(1) Cobalt oxide lithium type

It is a material that has been used from the beginning of the lithium-ion battery, and was developed as an ion conductor in 1980.The discharge curve has a relatively flat feature.

The challenges are that cobalt belongs to rare metals and is extremely expensive, and that safety performance and environmental burden in the state of being fully charge dare large.

(2) Ternary system

Although it is a positive electrode material that can be increased in capacity, the challenge is the bad stability and heat resistance characteristics during charging.

It is structurally stable with the positive electrode material developed in 2000 and in the USA and in Japan.

Heat resistance is bad, but the calorific value is small and it has excellent discharge characteristics at low temperature.

Since it is also excellent in terms of cost, now it is used for hybrid car (HEV),

and plug-in hybrid car (PHEV).

(3) Lithium iron phosphate

It has excellent discharge performance. It is a material with excellent heat resistance, low cost, and low environmental burden.

Many Chinese batteries are on the market because it is easy to control overcharge and over discharge.

Voltage 3.2 V

(4) Manganate type

Molecular structure is robust and it has excellent stability. It is inexpensive and highly safe, and because it is suitable for large capacity discharge, many technical presentations are seen for hybrid car (HEV) and plug-in hybrid car (PHEV).

(5) Nickel type

It is a positive electrode material that can be increased in capacity and is easy to manufacture.

In some cases, in order to stabilize the structure, cobalt or aluminum may be added in small amounts.

Because it has excellent high temperature preservability,it is adopted for notebook PCs and electric cars.
